"Among his top legislative priorities, Vito is leading efforts to reduce taxes, strengthen our national security, protect Social Security and Medicare
and improve education."

The above quoted text comes straight from Rep. Fossella's bio page on his Congressional website. You will notice five areas where Fossella is "leading
efforts" to achieve these goals. He follows those with a pat on his own back tooting his legislative initiatives. However now in his tenth year in Congress
Fossella apparently has only lead initiatives in one of the five areas, reducing taxes. It is unclear why after ten years he has yet to successfully
introduce any legislation on the other four areas that are listed as 'priorities.' [

"Vito has emerged as a strong leader in Congress who has both the insight and knowledge to make a positive difference on important policy matters. He has a keen grasp of the issues that affect the lives of average American families."

Rep. Fossella has frequently used his ability to introduce legislation in Congress to instead write the following House Resolutions;
- Honoring Benjamin Franklin on the 300th anniversary of his birth.
- Honoring New York State Senator John Marchi.
- Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States Postal Service should issue a commemorative postage stamp honoring famous Staten Island-born 19th Century Hudson River Painter Jasper Francis Cropsey, and the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee should recommend to the Postmaster General that such a stamp be issued.
- Honoring the spiritual leadership of Archbishop Iakovos to Greek Orthodox Christians in the Western Hemisphere.
- Expressing thanks to the people of the city of Rome for welcoming several million people into Rome and Vatican City during the funeral observances of Pope John Paul II in April 2005.
- Honoring the Fordham University School of Law upon the occasion of its 100th Anniversary.
- Recognizing the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the paid Fire Department of New York on Staten Island, and for other purposes.
Rep. Fossella however is so ineffective he was not able to get any of those resolutions passed. The only recent resolution he had success with was;
H.RES.908, July 2006: Congratulating Italy on winning the 2006 Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup. Furthermore it is
unclear how mandating the creation of a stamp commemorating Jasper Francis Cropsey would reduce classroom sizes, address issues relating to poverty or
implement any of his
one five 'priorities.'
